Wednesday 31st October, 2018-The Government of Japan has completed the handing over of equipment valuing US $ 2 million to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to be used in disaster management.
The donation resulted from a 2014 meeting between Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the Japanese Prime Minister in Jamaica.
At a ceremony this afternoon, Director of the National Office of Disaster Services, Philmore Mullin expressed appreciation to the Japanese Government for its continued support to Antigua and Barbuda.
The items include a land search and rescue vehicle, twelve weather stations, protective gears, 17 community storage facilities with equipment and loudhailers among other items.
Ambassador Mitsuhiko Okada says Japan will continue to play its part in assisting small island nations to deal with the effects of climate change.
