Tuesday 30th October, 2018-Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne says LIAT’s survivability will only be guaranteed if all of the regional governments give some level of financial support.
He argued that if countries are benefitting, then they should be made to carry some of the burden, describing the actions of those who refuse to support the ailing regional carrier as “selfish.”
The Antiguan government is one of four in the Caribbean that is a shareholder of LIAT.
Prime Minister Browne highlighted LIAT’s importance to the region, stating there is too much to lose if the airline goes under.
The head of government posited that there are opportunities to be exploited, if LIAT is placed on a sounder footing.
