Tuesday 11th September, 2018-The Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal has lifted the injunction granted by a High Court Judge last month that halted work on construction of an international airport in Barbuda.
Justice Rosalyn Wilkinson ruled in favour of John Mussington and Jacklyn Frank on August 2nd. The duo, reportedly acting on behalf of the people of Barbuda, petitioned the court to halt the airport construction, claiming that the work being carried out was causing major damage to the island’s wildlife and eco-systems.
But a day after the judge’s ruling an appeal was filed by the government.
That matter was on the schedule of the Appeals’ Court today.
Dr. David Dorsett is one of several attorneys that appeared on behalf of the appellant, the government.
According to Dr. Dorsett, the matter now comes up for hearing on September 26th, 2018.
