Thursday 26th July, 2018 –The government is expressing its confidence in the vetting process for new applications made under the Citizenship By Investment Programme (CIP).
Speaking at the weekly post-Cabinet press briefing, Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, Hon. E.P Chet Greene said the due diligence conducted by the CitizenshipBy Investment Unit (CIP) is robust and thorough…and that the government is fully satisfied with the process.
Greene was speaking on the recent press reports about an Indian national – Mehul Choksi – a billionaire and businessman now wanted in India for alleged fraud was given Antiguan and Barbudan citizenship in November 2017 and swore his oath of allegiance in January this year.
The foreign affairs minister said he wants to assure the nation that the government will never do anything to compromise the CIP programme.
