Police Officer Shot During Robbery

Thursday 14th June, 2018-Police are investigating a robbery that took place at a bar in Martins Village where an off duty police officer was shot in the leg.

Allegations are that around 12:30am on Thursday14th June, 2018, a lone masked individual exited a car and robbed the patrons of the SP Bar of their monies.  Shots were fired by the intruder during the committal of the robbery one of which hit the officer in the left leg.

The officer whose name was not revealed was the only person injured during the robbery and the doctors at the MSJMC confirms that his injury is not life threatening according to a police statement.

The perpetrator is described as being about five feet three inches tall, medium built, dark in complexion, dressed in camouflaged clothing black sneakers and was wearing a dark mask.

Police are appealing to anyone with information concerning the crime to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 462-3913 and 462-3914 or the nearest Police Station.
