Wednesday 6th June, 2018 –Suspended Commissioner of Police Wendel Robinson is distancing himself from the publication of documents filed by him in a court matter against the Police Service Commission.
In a brief statement today, Robinson said it has been brought to his attention that his affidavit, along with exhibits and all other documents filed on his behalf in a Judicial Review proceeding currently before the court, have been deliberately, maliciously and highly inappropriately disclosed via social media and are being read publicly on a radio station.
Wendel Robinson stated that he wishes to notify the public that he is “not a party to this wrongful disclosure, or do I have any knowledge of who did so or how. “
The suspended top cop is strongly condemning what he described as a wanton violation of all proper conduct in relation to legal and judicial matters, particularly as the matter is currently sub judice (under judicial consideration and therefore prohibited from public discussion elsewhere) before the High Court of Justice in Antigua and Barbuda.
He added that “In condemning this clear act of malice which harms the process of justice, I disassociate myself completely from the perpetrators.”
Robinson’s application challenging his suspension will come up for hearing in the High Court later this month.
He was suspended in April over accusations of questionable conduct involving several members of the Royal Police Force.
