Friday 1st June, 2018 –The scale of illegal dumping taking place across the country has been revealed as the national cleanup campaign continues.
Approximately 2000 tonnes of garbage was collected since the clean up began last weekend. As the piles of rubbish are being hauled away to the landfill, Environment Minister Molwyn Joseph says a clear picture is emerging of illegal dumpsites.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, Minister Joseph says the problem must be brought under control and the amended litter act will ensure people are held accountable.
Minister Molwyn Joseph says the clean-up campaign is the most comprehensive ever to be undertaken in Antigua and Barbuda and it goes beyond beautification.
