Friday 27th April, 2018 –The local media has been scolded for sharing misinformation disguised as facts as it relates to the re-building programme in Barbuda.

Cabinet spokesperson, Melford Nicholas says work is ongoing despite some challenges, but he believes a true sense of the government’s efforts is not reflected in the country.

He was responding to a question at Thursday’s Post-Cabinet Briefing on whether a plan is in place for Barbudans as the 2018 hurricane season approaches.

It was revealed that the procurement process used by the UNDP is responsible for the setbacks being encountered. More houses he outlined could have received attention, had the international organization taken a different approach.

He said government has also experienced difficulty in its financial obligations where labour is concerned. Yet Mr. Nicholas is of the opinion that the media has been unfair in its coverage of the re-building programme on the sister isle.
