Tuesday 24th April, 2018 –Traffickers are continuing to use the VC Bird International Airport to attempt to smuggle drugs into the country undetected.
But their efforts are being thwarted by the police.
Over 7 pounds of cannabis were seized by police at V.C. Bird International Airport on Monday.
Officers attached to the Narcotics and K-9 Unit were conducting one of their routine inspections at Customs Bonded Warehouse when one of the K-9 dogs detected eleven packages of cannabis hidden among a sheet set.
The substance weighed a total of 7-3/4 pounds and carries an estimated wholesale value of $31,000.
The illegal drug is being held by the police pending further investigations.
