Thursday 5th April, 2018 –Antiguan Football Coach Derrick “Pretty Boy” Edwards who is facing possible jail time in Jamaica on ganga charges has spoken publicly on the matter.

49 year-old Edwards, along with Equipment Coordinator Danny Benjamin were charged last week with possession of ganja, taking preparatory steps to export ganja and conspiracy.

The men were on their way to Antigua with the football team, following a match against Jamaica when they were held at Norman Manley International Airport.

Speaking on Good Morning Jojo this morning on Observer Radio, Edwards who was granted bail yesterday says faith is what is taking him through such an ordeal.

While Edwards was successful in receiving bail, Danny Benjamin was refused bail and remains in a Jamaican jail. Derrick Edwards says he is concerned for his colleague’s well-being as he has been unwell recently.

According to Jamaican police, the drug was detected in one of the football officials’ luggage during X-ray examinations at the airport.

When the bag was searched, a backpack containing two rectangular packages of approximately 3.6 pounds of ganja was reportedly found in a false compartment. The drug has an estimated street value of $16,000 Jamaican according to police.
