Wednesday 4th April, 2018 – Newly appointed Minister of Housing, Lands and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Maria Browne is pledging to work towards achieving government’s goals in providing affordable housing and lands to nationals.
She reiterated her government’s position as she makes the rounds to various departments that are under her portfolio.
Minister Maria Browne met with the heads of department and staff of the Development Control Authority, (DCA) the Central Housing and Planning Authority, (CHAPA) and the National Housing Development and Urban Renewal Company Limited.
The housing minister told staff she is looking forward to working with each one of them as they work together as a team. The Gaston Browne administration she noted has a vision for Antigua and Barbuda and it is only through working as one unit they will we be successful. Each member of staff Minister Maria Browne told Board Members and employees at CHAPA is expected to perform at the highest level and she is confident they will achieve the mission.
The minister, who became the youngest person to be elected to the House of Representatives and the Member of Parliament who achieved the highest number of votes in the March 21, General Elections also told the Management team of CHAPA that one of her aims is to ensure ease of access in purchasing lands and the success of the government’s Land for Youth programme.
The Minister also expressed the desire for the Development Control Authority’s office to be located closer to St. John’s proper to make doing business with the division seamless.
During this week, Minister Maria Browne will meet with staff of the Survey Division, the Lands Division and visit some of the housing development sites under construction.
