Tuesday 3rd April, 2018 – Postal workers are expected back on the job tomorrow (Wednesday) after they downed tools today in protest of sub-standard working conditions.
More than 300 employees took protest action.
Their Union, Antigua Trades and Labour Union held meetings with the General Post Office’s management who have pledged that work to remedy the many issues affecting the employees will begin tomorrow.
The workers are complaining that a lack of attention in dealing with the issues is resulting in many employees becoming ill.
They post office’s management has been given three weeks in which to complete the repair work.
Certain sections of the GPO will not operate on Wednesday as work is set to begin.
