Tuesday 3rd April, 2018 – Government plans to follow through on its promise made pre-election to pardon several inmates of Her Majesty’s Prison.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne had hinted that steps will be taken to grant reprieve to those who may have been incarcerated for minor issues.
Asked last week whether the matter was addressed in Cabinet, spokesman and Minister of Information, Melford Nicholas said discussions were held, though he could not say exactly when the process will begin.
Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin says the requirements are clear under which inmates will be pardoned.
