Wednesday 7th March, 2018 – The Electoral Commission reports it is making progress in decreasing the number of Voter Identifications Cards it has in its possession.
ABEC had reported there were hundreds of unclaimed cards dating back to 2013 that were yet to be claimed. But after an appeal was issued for persons to uplift the state issued card, the numbers are declining. Public Relations Officer, Elisa Graham says persons are showing up to registration units across the island and once the process is complete, their names are removed from a list.
While she could not give a figure, Graham says they are satisfied with the public’s response.
There is also an increase in transfers and application for replacement cards. ABEC is imploring citizens and residents to be available when contacted.
