Friday 2nd March, 2018 – Former Deputy Chairman of the Antigua /Barbuda Electoral Commission Bruce Goodwin was revealed on Thursday evening as the Democratic National Alliance’s candidate that will contest the St. John’s City East Constituency.
Goodwin will come against the ABLP’s incumbent Melford Nicholas and Harold Lovell of the United Progressive Party.
Goodwin was unveiled as his party’s choice during a meeting at Irene B. Williams School in Swetes. Addressing those in attendance, Goodwin expressed confidence that he will secure the seat on behalf of his party come March 21st.
The DNA has now fielded 12 candidates to contest the upcoming general elections. Speaking on state television his morning, DNA political leader, Joanne Massiah, said the party has identified the remaining five candidates, though she admitted they are experiencing challenges.
Massiah noted that though faced with challenges, she does not see the need for a quick fix to the issues they face.
