Wednesday 28th February, 2018 – There are unconfirmed reports that the Office of Professional Standards investigating how murder accused Delano Forbes escaped from a group of police officers have reportedly charged them with neglect of duty.
The matter was referred to the committee after a report on the circumstances of the escape was compiled in a report. When contacted for confirmation, Commissioner of Police Wendell Robinson would only say he is overseas.
The officers whose identities have not been revealed will be tried based on the charge against. It is not known if this will be done in open court.
The Royal Police Force has come under fire for the embarrassing situation, with Attorney General the Hon. Steadroy Benjamin promising those responsible will be held accountable.
He cited that it was a gross dereliction of duty on the part of the police. Two weeks after he made his escape, Delano Forbes is yet to be captured. An EC $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his capture.
