Tuesday, 20th February, 2018 – Georgette Aaron who was jailed for six years for perverting the course of Justice has had her appeal hearing traversed to the June sitting of the appeals court.
The matter was listed for hearing last week when the court sat in Antigua, but was pushed back. Aaron was the girlfriend of Avie Howell, who was serving three life sentences for murdering Welsh Honeymoon couple Ben and Catherine Mullany and shopkeeper Woneta Anderson, but who died of his injuries after he was shot following a prison break in 2014.
Georgette Aaron was accused of providing false statements to police during the murder investigation of the Mullanys and also during the trial of her boyfriend and Kaniel Martin. In 2014, she was sentenced to 6 years for perverting the course of justice.
She is hoping the Appeals’ Court will rule in her favour and throw out the conviction and sentencing of the High Court.
Meantime, convicted murderer, Kaniel Martin has also had his appeal traversed to the June sitting of the court.
Martin is also serving three life sentences for murdering Ben and Catherine Mullany and Woneta Anderson. He is hoping to have his convictions and sentencing overturned by the court.
