Friday, 16th February, 2018 – The first batch of 500 L.E.D lights has arrived on island and installation is expected to begin immediately.

Antigua Public Utilities Authority will install the lights, which will replace incandescent lamps. Information Minister, the Hon. Melford Nicholas says adequately illuminating communities is of priority.

The installation of L.E.Ds is expected to lower energy consumption.

Street lighting according to Cabinet, consumes about 10 percent of the electricity which APUA provides to all consumers daily. The L.E.D lighting will reduce that by more than 75 percent according to Cabinet.
