Friday, 9th February, 2018 – Pointe F.M Radio was officially launched on Thursday with the station’s founder, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, emphasizing the need for media establishments to be responsible in their programming.

The station, located in the Point, came onto the airwaves late last year as a simple project according to the prime minister. But it has quickly surpassed expectations and is now being viewed as a “national asset, small in size, with a very loud voice”.

Addressing the launching ceremony on Thursday, the prime minister who is also the parliamentary representative for the area in which the radio station is located, stressed the importance of clean content and objectivity.

The prime minister pointed to the need for accuracy also in reporting, an area he finds is seriously lacking. Such recklessness he noted is having serious consequences for the country.

During his address, Mr. Bowne sought to allay the fears of at least one radio station, whose owners believe the rise of POINTE F.M is a threat to their survival. The prime minister said there is no need for anxiety, but he is encouraging them to in his words improve their content.
