Friday, 9th February, 2018 – An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale occurred north of Barbuda on Friday afternoon.
Several residents reported feeling the tremor around Antigua.
According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Unit, the earthquake was at 1:43pm local time, and occurred North of Barbuda. It was located at 18.71N and 61.43°W with a magnitude of 5.5 and depth of 10km. residents of St. Kitts also reportedly felt the quake.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
Meantime, the United States Geological Survey is reporting that the quake, measuring 4.5 was felt 83 kilometers North, Northeast of Road Town, Tortola, with a depth of 25.0 kilometers.
There are no immediate reports of damage there.
