Wednesday 7th February, 2018 – The Director of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is speaking of the need for government to reduce its spending bill where accommodation is concerned for Barbudans.
Philmore Mullin says alternative plans must be put in place for Barbudans currently occupying private properties. He revealed that while in the initial stages property owners extended their hospitality, it was never a long-term agreement. Five months on, some owners are now billing the government for the Barbudans occupying their facilities.
Officials are confident that the Nurses Hostel, NTTC, Barrymore and the shelter in Barbuda will be enough to accommodate everyone, once they are moved out of private properties.
